Puente Romano Beach Resort

Marbella’s Golden Mile

The Puente Romano Beach Resort is one of Marbella’s most iconic landmarks. It sits in a prime position on the Golden Mile in Marbella, an idyllic 7.5km stretch of coastline that links Marbella’s city centre with Puerto Banús. It is also one of the most prestigious postcodes in Spain, which is home to some of the most luxurious Marbella real estate.

History of the Puente Romano

In 1954, Prince Alfonso de Hohenlohe opened The Marbella Club Hotel as a retreat for aristocratic friends, many of whom went on to own property in the vicinity, which later become the Golden Mile. Several years later (1979), the Puente Romano was built on the site of an ancient Roman bridge (which can be seen in the grounds), creating 20 luxury suites surrounded by lush Persian and Japanese gardens.

In 2022, the resort underwent extensive renovations, and today offers 263 rooms, suites and villas, and is renowned as having some of the most exclusive property for sale on the Costa del Sol. Occasionally, when these highly prized luxury homes are listed on the market for sale, it is possible to snap up a frontline beach apartment, at the heart of the Golden Mile. It was also the recipient of the ‘Best Resort’ by Conde Nast Traveller Award 2023.

Today, the area is renowned for its exclusive property for sale on the Costa del Sol, with opportunities ranging from new developments Costa del Sol to high-end real estate in Spain, Costa del Sol. If searching for Marbella Golden Mile property for sale, whether it’s a luxurious beachfront villa in Marbella for sale or a frontline beach apartment, these properties don’t stay on the market long, especially when located in the iconic Puente Romano Beach Resort!

The resort was created in the style of a traditional Andalusian village, featuring over 20 restaurants, bars, cafés, and vibrant nightlife options. Among these is the renowned La Suite Nightclub and several big names in gastronomy, including famous names like Michelin-starred Málaga chef Dani García’s Leña steak house, Cipriani Marbella, Nobu and a new branch of El Pimpi, the Malaga institution part owned by actor Antonio Banderas.

In addition to restaurants, café and bars, you’ll find an impressive range of activities and services within the resort, including tennis courts that play host to show matches and serve as a concert venue, the Six Senses Spa provides indulgent treatments inspired by the Mediterranean, there is also Pilates Puente Romano and a Kids Club to name a few.

Saudi Arabian Palace

King Fahd’s Al Riyal Palace located opposite the Puente Romano (the entrance is marked with a large white scimitar) played a major role in the development of both the Puente Romano and the Golden Mile. The royal complex, featuring a replica of the US White House, a mosque, medical centre and private helipad, was designed as the extended royal family’s summer residence, bringing wealth and glamour, and a demand for luxury shops, restaurants and nightlife to entertain the family.

What else is on the Golden Mile?
